Dead Island “Bloodbath Arena” DLC Delayed

Been plugging in those pre-order DLC for Dead Island over the past couple of weeks? Well, according to the official Dead Island Facebook Page you’re going to waiting a bit a longer as Techland continues to iron out the myriad of bugs still plaguing the main game.

We are working hard to make the Bloodbath Arena DLC available as soon as possible. However, due to further polishing of the main game the finalisation of the DLC code has been delayed. We know that many fans are eagerly waiting for it and apologise for any inconvenience. We expect to announce a release update next week.

Technical hiccups and performance issues have marred the Deep Silver FPS/RPG hybrid since launch, resulting in a number of critics negatively adjusting their scores. Though some users have had fairly bug-free experiences, others (including myself) have been forced to abandon the game due to Autosave glitches and loss of trophy progression. Even without the frustrating technical difficulties Dead Island is no masterpiece, however it’s definitely a “must try” for gamers looking for something out of the ordinary.

  1. Will get this when it’s cheap…

  2. Should have this free with my amazon preorder :)

  3. In other words, they rushed to get the game out instead of delaying it so that they would have the time to fix the gamebreaking bugs. :-/ Shouldn’t they worry about patching the main game before focusing on the DLC? As that sounds like lost sales if they cba to fix it.

    • That’s exactly what they are doing, “further polishing of the main game”. It’s a shame it released so buggy, but at least they are taking steps to remedy it instead of ignoring the problems and going for the cheap buck by prioritising DLC (looks at AVP).

  4. Games being released in this state is going to keep on happening. Sony etc need to start putting their foot down. It would not be accepted in other parts of retail etc.

    • I agree completely i dont mind if a game has to be delayed in order for it to be more polished but to ship a game that is essentially broken, i mean a save function is one of the most important functions of a game, without whats the point!

Sony have to clamp down we as consumers need to raise our voices otherwise we will be constantly paying for broken games that the developers think that they can patch a week, month down the line, which is ridiculous.

I know there’s no such thing as a perfect game but the basic functions that we expect should be working when shipped.

Well thats my rant over. Sorry. :)

      • If I’m honest I only came across one bug and that was the save game bug. I lost just over an hour’s palytime annoyingly. How they released the game without a stable saving system is a crime.

    • Thats true, not like they sell a microwave and say we will release the door in two months as ‘DLC’

      • Microwave > Video game.

Bit of an exaggeration of an example I think.

Personally i haven’t come across any bugs? maybe I’m lucky or don’t notice them.

  5. I still want to play it but i’ll wait to see if the next patch improves things.

  6. Bought it on release, loving every minute of it…. very enjoyable game! dlc can wait got more than plenty to do in the game still :)
