The Walking Dead Hits 1 Million Sales Target

There have been one million sales of The Walking Dead, Telltale Games has announced.

The comic turned TV show turned episodic point-and-click adventure game hit the milestone in the game’s first two weeks on the market, making it the developer’s fastest ever selling title.

Dan Connors, CEO of Telltale Games, was understandably pretty happy about the game’s success:

Premiering  The Walking Dead game series to record numbers across so many diverse platforms is a tremendous achievement that shows the value of bringing strong storytelling and game play together.”

The first episode – ‘A New Day’ – topped the sales chart on XBLA for two weeks straight, and took the #1 spot on both Playstation Network and Steam in its first week on the market.

Episode 2 ‘Starved for Help’ is set to launch across PC, Mac and consoles this June.

  1. Not soon enough for me. Ive loved how the systmes prgress from Sam and Max throught BttF & Jurassic Park to The Walking Dead.

  2. Although not a fan of most of the TellTale games, this one actually impressewd me.I might pick it up when it’s complete.

  3. Oh, so no May release, I thought we were getting an episode each month? :(

I feel they need to keep up the momentum to ensure people continue to buy each episode. Great game!

    • Ah, glad i wasn’t the only one that thought that June sounded a bit far off! I mean, i know it’s only in 2 weeks or so, but still…

      • Yeah, especially when I paid for the other episodes. Lucky for them I don’t mind as it’s awesome, but I think they should have done it sooner to keep peoples’ interest.

I also have plenty of other games to play, including BttF which should arrive today! :D

      • Yeah, i agree – Whether its feasible or not, i think that apisodic content should be every 2-3 weeks to keep it fresh. The more time you go over a monthy release, the greater the likelihood that people might lose interest.

      • Oh & i quite like BttF so far – I haven’t gotten very far through it, but it generally seems quite good. Clunky, but entertaining (plenty of fan service too).

      • Oh that’s good to hear – the wife enjoyed the trial so it’s something I’ll play through with her, it should be fairly easy going too!

  4. Loving all things Walking Dead at the moment and it didn’t disappoint.

  5. Loved the first episode left me slightly excited for the 2nd Episode!!

  6. Awesome. Once all the episodes are out I’ll pick it up. Hate starting a game and then having to wait ages for the next part (Sam and Max, BlueToad Murder Files)

  7. I’m waiting for a few more to be released, I thought the trial was too short for me to make up my mind if I like it or not.

  8. wasn’t released on psn in Australia due to censorship problems. Thank goodness for steam.

    • “wasn’t released on psn in Australia due to censorship problems”

Was there not enough boobage in it? ;P

  9. I knew their “1 episode per month” promise would turn out to be nonsense, in fact I stated this in the forum thread for this game.
I really enjoyed ep1 but knew it’d be more than 4 -5 weeks til ep2. That was my only issue with buying it. They deserve these sorts of sales, excellent experience it was. Perfect length too.
