It’s fair to say that Sony’s E3 press conference was met with a somewhat mixed reception. Sure, there was plenty to get excited about, though a number of dire omissions -including the The Last Guardian and Sony’s second wave of Vita exclusives- will have no doubt left a contingent of fans and critics perplexed.
One game we had expected to see plenty of was Keiji Inafune’s Soul Sacrifice, a new IP from Sony’s Japan Studio, combining a mature Gothic setting with deep action RPG elements. With a likeness to Capcom’s insanely popular Monster Hunter series we’re convinced that Sony is waiting for an opportune moment to pit Soul Sacrifice against its would-be rival, September’s TGS being an ideal venue.
With that said, Sony could have at least planted a seed in the mind of those attended/streamed their live conference; assuring fans that, despite disparaging reports of weak sales, that the Vita’s software line-up is growing ever stronger.
If you’ve had your (slightly mutilated) eye poised on Soul Sacrifice, you won’t be completely disappointed with E3 2012’s offerings. Struggling amidst a barrage of competing news stories and glossy virals, Sony has in fact launched a new trailer for the macabre handheld title, this time for Western audiences (as seen above.)

Looks great, but I still don’t get why this wasn’t even mentioned during Sony’s E3 press conference…

Very interested in this – why on earth it wasn’t included in the press conference I have no idea – surely they could have cut out a few of those excruciating Wonderbook minutes?

I don’t understand why they didn’t at least have a Vita line-up montage- there’s some VERY impressive games on their way.

Was that the Book of the Dead?! Someone has been taking notes from Evil Dead.
