Look, I know what a lot people will be thinking. Lots of you will be like “another Mario game, can’t Nintendo do anything original?” and then you’re going to snigger to yourself and go back to playing Call of Duty 9. The thing is, these Mario games are usually really good.
So, Nintendo has dated their latest Mario iteration – New Super Mario Bros 2. Yes, it’s a ridiculous title and yes it’s another platformer featuring the mustachioed plumber but it’s very likely to be excellent.
Mario’s next side scrolling adventure will be released in Europe on the 17th of August, a couple of days before North America gets it on the 19th. They’re going overboard with the coins this time, as you can see in the trailer below.

Looks great, but my mom said I’m not allowed games with comic mischief :(

Looks great as always. Not a huge fan of 3D mario games but I could play these 2d ones for hours.

Hear hear. 3d mario is still a little discombobulating for me. No fault of the devs just my spatial awareness *walks into door frame-ouch*.

I love Mario, but it seems they’ve run out of ideas for the sidescrollers.
LTG Davey
Agreed. No doubt it will be great fun but it’s the Rayman team who are really pushing the genre forward these days with Origins and their upcoming Legends.

Not another one. My son’s already nagging me for Lego Batman 2 and now he’ll be adding this game to the list. Can’t publishers take a year off, please?
LTG Davey
At least your Son has good taste by the sounds of things, lol. My neices and nephews will only play those crappy movie tie-in games.

What is this?
Mario Bros for Wall Street?!

Seriously!? How many times can the word ‘coin’ be used in one preview. Mario doesn’t need gimicks, it’s a strong enough brand on it’s own when considering the platform games. Mario is one game that really doesn’t need a score attack / leaderboard mechanic.
