“The Last Of Us” Goes Gold

Neil Druckmann, Creative Director at Naughty Dog, has confirmed that – in terms of development at least – The Last Of Us is done, finished.

The news comes, as these things do, via Twitter. “Pencils down,” he said, in the last hour. This follows Christophe Balestra, the studio’s Co-President, who issued an image showing the game being built.

The Last Of Us releases to retail in just under a month, on the 14th of June. We’ve been playing a preview build for the last week or so, and will be spilling all in just two days.

  1. How much of the game is the “preview build”? Is it representative of the final game?
Have you had a chance to play MP?

    • Not sure we can say how much. It’s a recent enough build, for sure.

      No, haven’t seen MP.

      • Thanks for the reply, I’m really intrigued to see if they aren’t showing the MP due to it not being up to standards.
At what time does the embargo end?

      • Sorry, I’m not totally sure. It’s Friday though.

  2. I have deliberately ignored all stories and trailers for this game. All I know about it is what was initially revealed. Can’t wait for the game to drop through my letterbox.

You always have my money on day one, ND. Now, where’s my Uncharted 4?

    • Me either. Haven’t watched or read anything since the original trailer. Can’t Wait.

  3. Already preordered my copy, I intend for it to be my milestone 20th platinum as well as a milestone game. :)

Bring it on Naughty Dog, leave the PS3 behind in a blaze of glory.

  4. Got this pre-ordered. I’m hoping to clear some of my ‘pile of shame’ before it’s released.
This may be the last PS3 game I buy this year.

  5. Can’t get my preview build to download the bloody thing just sits at 0,0%, is highly annoying.

  6. Shall I preorder this? I’ve got a lot of backlog on Ps3 naughty dog deserve my cash, but then there’s the upcoming Ps4 huh! Decisions decisions

  7. One of the few games I can see me picking up on day one. Tremendously excited to see how the game turns out.

  8. This sits with GTA V in a pile I call 14month pre-orders…

  9. Assuming the online spoilers are correct, the narrative sounds like its going to be great. <3 Naughty Dog and survival horror games so I'm looking forward to seeing how the two come together :-)

  10. Day 1 purchase, no doubt about it.
