Mortal Kombat X Will Have More Costumes Than MK9, In-Depth Livestream This Thursday

One of my favorites parts of Mortal Kombat 9, besides having a video game where Freddy Krueger can uppercut a reptile, was having a bunch of classic costumes added to the game for free in each new update. Being able to play as the ninjas in their klassic kostumes was a treat, and it seems like our fighters might get the same treatment in the newest entry in the series, according to executive producer Shaun Himmerick.

Injustice was the DC comics based fighting game that NetherRealm studios most recently developed, and that game featured around 40 alternate costumes in total. On top of that, some costumes were more than new models, such as the Green Arrow costume that not only made him look like Arrow from the CW show, but was also voiced by the actor who portrays him. So while it’s a bummer that we can’t expect upwards of 40 costumes for MKX, the final tally for new costumes in the game will still probably be impressive.

On top of this news, it was revealed that the PC port of the gore-filled fighting game is being handled by High Voltage Studios. They are also tasked with bringing the game to Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. That bit again; High Voltage Studios are also tasked with porting the game to a toaster and a TI-83 calculator.

Finally, in another twitter reveal, Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon revealed that they’ll be doing a Thursday livestream on Twitch to show off some in-depth gameplay of Kitana and Reptile, two recently announced additions to the MKX roster.

Mortal Kombat X will be available on April 14, for the PC,  PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms. It will also be available on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 for reasons mere mortals like us will never be able to fathom.

  1. Sorely tempted by this one. Can’t beat a bit of Mortal Kombat. The only thing putting me off is that I know there will be a “Komplete” edition released 12 months from now with all the extra characters, etc.

  2. Cannot wait and got it pre-ordered but I thought the release date was the 4th April?
Unless that is only in America?
