The Kickstarter boom of a few years ago led to a plethora of slightly unlikely projects come to fruition, as fans of various half-forgotten genres and abandoned game series spoke with their wallets to help fund their return. The classically styled RPG in particular has seen a critically acclaimed revival with the likes of Divinity: Original Sin and Pillars of Eternity. The only problem has been that these have largely been restricted to PC.
Having garnered a lot of praise, won over 150 awards and nominations and selling almost a million copies on PC, Divinity: Original Sin is being brought to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles this year, as Larian Studios work in partnership with Focus Home Interactive on an enhanced edition.
One of the key challenges is in adapting the interface and controls to fit, and this will come alongside dynamic split-screen for couch co-op. However, the Enhanced Edition will also see remastered dialogue within a reworked storyline, as well as new content in the form of added quests, new combat styles, locations and changes to the crafting.
More details on what Larian have planned were explained in their latest update to their Kickstarter oriented series of video, including that as an expression of their gratitude, all of the planned additions and changes are going to be rolled back across to the PC version of the game for existing owners.
This is all really about refining what was, by all accounts, already an expansive and impressive return to the Divinity  series, and with more details to come at E3, certainly a game to keep an eye on for console RPG fans.

For anyone who likes/loves their top-down RPGs this one is a beauty. I’m not a fan of turn-based combat but they nailed it. Been hankering after a second play through as well.
Cheers for the nod, Tef.

I don’t think I’ve ever played a turn based RPG that isn’t also classified as a strategy game (Fire Emblem, Disgaea, Heroes) or a JRPG, could be really interesting.
