Last night Shenmue III made a surprise appearance at Sony’s E3 conference, where a Kickstarter campaign for the third entry to the series was revealed. Yu Suzuki took the stage to announce that $2 million was needed for the project to move forward, and now that goal has been reached in nine hours, with 31 days still left of the campaign. There have been over 25,000 backers so far, with that number no doubt sent to rise by a lot.
While Shenmue III has been confirmed for PS4 & PC there is no confirmation of other platforms, but the FAQ states that other consoles are still being thought about with nothing decided. The PS4 version will remain digital only, at least for now, while there will be a PC physical edition available.

I watched Gamestop stream last night and they kept checking the kickstarter fund- it was going up by approx $1000 per second.

Did my part and backed the standard tier at $29, a good price actually!
I’d like a physical PS4 version. From previous Kickstarters I’ve backed, if it’s the same as those I should be able to increase by backing amount if they introduce another tier or change any of the existing ones to include a physical PS4 version.

Is it odd I’m replying to myself?? Anyhoo, I can’t believe this hasn’t been updated! Physical ps4 copy now available to backers . As stated in the first post, I’m now in – Back of the shed!
