This week’s podcast is slightly different from our normal fair. We have your usual news breakdown and the answers to your questions, but Kev and I were joined by Groundshatter’s James Parker. For most of the episode we chatted to him about his new game SkyScrappers, where he told us pretty much everything about it from his influences to things he hopes to change in the near future. If you love platformers, fighting titles or classic arcade gameplay then you really should check it out.
James also talked about Batman: Arkham Knight, a game I’ve been plowing through at quite some speed, as well as his experiences with Her Story and building a silly homage to it, Hootstory. As for Kev, he’s been thinking about making a game he describes as “the robot olympics”. It sounds bonkers and by far his most ambitious project.

UUuuuu, guest. Exciting.
It’s not a bug it’s a feature ! Just kidding. Ow man. Did you see the bug in Rocket League where the console turns into a “oven mode” if you leave the game in main menu. A workaround is to change the camera to view only the car, top down view – the crowd seems to be the problem xD To energetic. Lovely game thou.
I agree with James on the CGI trailer topic. I think very early in development or when announcing something new, a CGI trailer is great. I like to think of myself as a thinking person and I know that a game will not look like this when I see a CGI trailer. It’s to give a glimpse of the atmosphere and style of what the game should “feel” like. I think Square has done that many times in terms of Final Fantasy. Ubisoft is also very good at it in the Assassin’s Creed series. Ow, Mass Effect also.
The problem is that you cannot show CGI trailers only. Rather stop showing anything from the game or show gameplay trailer that are actual gameplay.
I must say it took me a while to find game footage from the game James is working on. I only did that after inputting the game name and ‘James Parker’ into google search. Looks fun. Good luck with it.
Aaaaa, it’s not “Sky Scrappers”. With two ‘P’.
“Cock hunter” xD Great.
Rocket League is just fantastic. Games like this is what makes PS+ worth it. It’s great local, it’s great in multiplayer, it’s great online and offline. Pure fun. I enjoy it very much.
Another one great guys. Thanks.
