Xbox Live has been offline since Saturday for some, but not all, Xbox owners. The official Xbox Live service page suggests there is limited disruption but it does seem to be localised to certain areas on certain broadband providers.
“Our teams are working closely with European ISPs regarding Xbox 360 connectivity issues,” tweeted Xbox Support.
UPDATE: Seems to be working now, panic over.

Looking at the xbox status, it implies there is a problem with matchmaking, rather than playing games. Is this not the case? And that’s a LOT of apps there – though the only one I’d like added to the PS4 is the domino’s pizza one.
