Double Fine Announce 70s Sci-Fi Inspired Headlander

In conjunction with Adult Swim Games – which helps to explain just how barmy the game looks – Double Fine have announced Headlander, a “retro-futuristic, side scrolling, action-adventure game”.

I’ll be honest, I’m not entirely sure what’s going on in the trailer, but there’s a lot of colourful laser beams flying around the levels, that’s for sure. The video’s description helps a little, saying your head is all that’s left of mankind, with the rest of your race having transferred their minds into robotic bodies, with gameplay in the form of Metroidvania games. Of course, your head has a rocket attached to the bottom of it, and you can fly around to take control of robotic host bodies, whether humanoid or something a little bit more dog-like. And then there are all the lasers…

Though no platforms have been announced yet, it’s set for a release in 2016.
