EA have revealed the first of the DLC packs for Star Wars, bringing new maps, a new game mode, new hero characters and new weaponry to the table. Due out later this month, this is the first part of the game’s season pass.
The two new hero characters are Nien Nunb for the Rebellion and Greedo for the Empire – he of being shot first fame – and you’ll be able to run around with the new Relby V-10 rifle and DT-12 blaster pistol, as well as using the new Scatter Gun, Dioxis Grenade, and Adrenaline Stim Star Cards.
Things are a little less clear on the maps front. They speak of two locations, Sullust and Tatooine which both featured in the original game, but are a little more vague on exactly how many maps we’ll see. Some sites are reporting two, others three, but my money is actually on four maps, with a larger scale map for Walker Assault and a smaller map for other modes on each planet. We’ve reached out to EA for clarification, but the DLC’s page reads as follows:
Blast enemies in the smelting factory or along the industrial pipes and platforms of Sullust or fight through Jabba’s throne room and sail barge garage on Tatooine.
Update:Â EA got back to us to confirm that there are indeed four maps set on these two Outer Rim planets.
· Jabba’s Palace
· Palace Garage
· SoroSuub Refinery
· SoroSuub Pipelines
There’s also a new game mode called Extraction, which has the Rebels trying to get some valuable McGuffin to their transport before time runs out.
This is all well and good, but I’m sure a lot of people out there would agree with John Boyega:
@EAStarWars Will fans get a full on offline story mode? It's more of an enjoyable way to learn controls.

I can answer JB’s question – No.
I’m torn on Battlefront. It’s not as in-depth as Battlefield 4 (I still play Rush several times a week) and the only game mode to have partially kept my attention has been Walker Assault (the closest type to Rush).
Will I get the Season Pass? Not sure. I’ll see whether the new content is worthwhile once released.

This seems a bit thin considering the maps we’ve had for free so far. The season pass was way too pricey for me to start with and I was hoping for some Force Awakens content which I definitely would have bought, but since that’s not happening I think I’ll happily stick with the bog standard game. Unless they want to sell us new fighters to fly around in, I’d happily pay an unreasonable amount for a lovely big B-Wing, phwoar! Also, I love that Boyega is playing the game, he just seems so giddily happy to be in Star Wars, what a great guy!

Gotta love John Boyega, he’s on the money with that question.
The new content sounds exciting, but I know that if I buy the game I’ll quickly lose interest unless I buy the season pass, and it’s all just far too expensive at the moment.

No John Boyega, I do not want an offline story campaign DLC to help me ‘learn controls’ for a game I have had for months. I vote for anything that makes the game remotely resemble Battlefront 2 or short of that, something that will make me want to play for more than 15 minutes at a time.

Would an offline story campaign no do that for you then?
