It actually sneaked out earlier today, with an advert going live on IGN a little earlier than planned, but Blizzard’s hero-based multiplayer shooter is now confirmed for release on May 24th. That’s well within the bounds set out at Blizzcon last year, when they simply said it would be by June 21st.
If you’re looking forward to seeing what Blizzard can do with the genre and haven’t been party to the two PC closed betas so far, then an open beta test will get under way on May 5th and runs until the 9th. Of course, there’s also a promotion where if you pre-order the game, you can get into the beta on the 3rd.
Fun fact: Gearbox Software’s own hero shooter, Battleborn, is out on May 3rd…

Frankly I can’t tell Battleborn and Overwatch apart

You should work on this.
The Battleborn beta was awful – the Overwatch beta was delightful.

Thought the Overwatch beta was fab. Really looking forward to playing it on PS4.

I can’t wait for this gem from Blizzard. I’m soaking up daily all the videos on YouTube about this game. It’s gonna be addictive to finally play it.
