Ubisoft has announced that on top of setting the record for biggest Q1 launch The Division is now the publisher’s best selling game, and has set the record of the highest opening week sales for a new game IP. The Division has grossed $33o million worth of sales so far. Those aren’t all the records as The Division also broke Ubisoft’s concurrent user record, with 1.2 million people playing the game at the same time over the weekend. Players have already logged over 100 million hours worth of game time too.
Ubisoft’s Stephanie Perroti, Vice President of Online Services, issued the following statement.
On top of record breaking sales, player engagement is the highest ever for any Ubisoft title, demonstrating, among other things, that our investments in our online infrastructure and services are paying off. We are delivering an online experience that’s on par with the best in the industry, and that matches the quality and connectivity demanded by The Division and its players.
It appears that the general hype never really waned ever since The Division was revealed in 2013. You can read Stefan’s thoughts on The Division in his review.

I’m not really sure how I feel about this game. It sold really well yet I feel like I’m always alone in NYC. My buddies has more time and are level 28~30. I’m simply stuck trying to get ransoms to help me but the streets are empty and matchmaking fails often. I have to admit, as a regular destiny player, this game feel very lonely until you get to your friends level

Not sure if you know, but the game is set to friends only by default, if you change it to open, its more “social”.. Also, other people are generally only seen in DZ areas and safe houses, so you only see those in your team on the streets anyway..
