You may have guessed from the teaser currently available on the PlayStation store, but Capcom have confirmed that Resident Evil 7 will be vastly different to the shooting gallery that was Resident Evil 6. Euorgamer report that it will be “far smaller scale, claustrophobic experience, with a heavy focus on setting and atmosphere,” with Resident Evil 7 director Koushi Nakanishi adding “The game is survival horror.”
That said, the game is still part of the current Resident Evil universe and is set after the events of Evils five and six. The demo on the store is not part of the full game, more of a teaser of what to expect.
“It’s not a reboot, it’s a rebuilding from the ground up,” explained Nakanishi. “It’s still set in the Resident Evil universe, and while the action in the demo takes place around this plantation house, it is happening in the same world as the other Resident Evil characters inhabit. The title is Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, which as well as being the title of the series in Japan is also a clue to what’s going on in this game.”
“If anyone out there has a bloodlust for holding a gun, check out Umbrella Corps,” he added.

I hope Rebecca Chambers is the lead. She has been ignored for, bloody hell, a decade! Ignoring the Mercs minigame, i am. Would like to see new characters and well, a true sense of fear. A sense of “Oh shit,oh shit, oh shit! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!” behind every door followed by code browns.
However, first person mode, it’s a good idea but thinking about it, it’s a bit gimmicky. Maybe, it is the injection that REsident Evil needs. Maybe not but hopefully, we will have a game that was as good, if not, better then 4. 5 was an ok resident evil game. 6 was pure undead shit that tried to be too many things at once.
I’m guessing that it’s a soft reboot then?
I did hear about the new CGI film being set in a mansion staring Rebecca chambers, Leon S.Kennedy and someone else and that is a reboot and those films are canon. They are also good. Unlike the live action ones.
