We Came Up With 14 More 1-2-Switch Mini Game Ideas

Nintendo have revealed more of the mini games found in 1-2-Switch and they include a game based on soothing a screaming baby. This seems an odd concept on which to base a game, calming down a screaming child could never be described as fun. We’re pretty sure milking a cow isn’t a glamorous or exciting activity either. However, this has got us thinking, what other mundane or odd activities could we turn in to 1-2-Switch mini-games?

Photocopying

Bring all the fun of the office back home with this exciting game. Carefully watch a line drawing on the Switch screen or TV and then recreate it by drawing with the Joy-Con in the air. When you are done, swish the Joy-Can from side to side to mimic the copier, but don’t go too fast or else you will get a paper jam!

Commute

Who doesn’t like being packed like a sardine on a crowded train? No one, that’s who! Experience the Northern line on London’s famous Underground network by holding the Joy-Con above you head as if on the Tube, and then keeping as still as possible whilst other players jostle you and try to knock you over.

Window Clean

“Now I go cleanin’ windows to earn an honest bob, for a nosy parker it’s an interestin’ job,” sang George Formby, and who are we to disagree! Wave the Joy-Con around to clean the imaginary window, but make sure you keep on dipping your sponge in an imaginary bucket to keep it wet.

Sick Day

The Great British Sicky is a national treasure and just the thing to simulate in a game. Hold the Joy-Con up to your ear as if it were a phone and then cough violently, as if you’re faking illness while calling your boss. Points are scored for exaggerated head movements and wheezing!

Vacuum the Stairs

We know you all can’t get enough of housework, so why not enjoy even more cleaning for fun? Methodically work your way up the stairs in your house, cleaning them from side to side, and occasionally having to tug at the cable with your other hand when the HD Rumble tells you to.

Tinder

Are you a hotty or a notty? Find out in this exciting Switch mini-game. Two players stand back to back and flick the analogue stick left or right on the Joy-Con. They both have three chances to swipe right, and if they both swipe right at the same time it’s a match and points are scored.

Go Ape

We can remember the days when chimps were used to advertise tea bags, so we can’t wait to step in their comically over-sized shoes and flat caps in this brand new game. Simply use the Joy-Con to swipe imaginary poo from your bottom and fling it at the other player. First person so score ten poos wins!

Top Trump

Topical! Listen for classic Trump phrases such as “It’s going to be great” and match them with Trump hand gestures in the Joy-Con IR scanner.

Shopping Line

Another British past time! Player one stands a short distance away from player two and patiently waits “in line”, taking a step forward whenever their Joy-Con rumbles. Player two has to use the Joy-Con to ‘scan’ their imaginary shopping and complete their shop before player one reaches the self service check out! But watch out, scan an object the wrong way and – uh oh – unexpected item in the bagging area!

Dipping Biscuits

Fresh ideas from Nintendo’s new North of England studio, this game lets you dunk your Joy-Con biscuits into an imaginary cup of tea, holding uncomfortable eye contact with the other player while trying to react to the HD Rumble and pull out before your biscuit tip falls off. Can you hold your nerve and stay firm whilst your opponent goes limp before your eyes?

Car Pool

Who will you pick? Place as many Joy-Con as you have into a bag, hat or bowl, then both players rummage around to find one, and discover which car and which person they’re going home with.

Mouse Hunt

It’s time to get friendly in this intimate game. Both players get under a blanket and hide their Joy-Con somewhere on their person, then feel around to try and find where the other player has hidden their ‘little mouse’.

Someone at the Door

Saucy shenanigans! You’re ‘having a lie down’ with Pat the Postman and you hear someone at the door! Quickly feel around on the floor with the Joy-Con to find locate your knickers, the HD Rumble will vibrate faster the closer you are to your undergarments. Can you locate your clothes before the timer runs out and your husband walks in and finds the Postman making a special delivery?

Touching Tips

Can you manage just the tip? Stand a few metres apart and have someone turn the lights off (or just close your eyes). Then slowly walk towards each other and try to tap the two Joy-Con together, all while the Joy-Con gently vibrates to let you know how close your tips are.
