Paid GTA Online Cheating Services Lexicon, Force Hax, and Menyoo Shut Down By Take Two Interactive

Last week Take Two Interactive forced the closure of the modding tool OpenIV, a tool that had been used to mod the single player content of Grand Theft Auto V for years. That was met by a massive backlash from the PC community in part down too the explanation that OpenIV affected the online side of the game, a claim which OpenIV denied. Now Take Two has turned its attention to actual cheating tools that definitely do affect the balance of GTA Online, and has forced Lexicon, Force Hax, and Menyoo to cease operations. All of these were making money from exploitations that included inflating the amount of money players had.

All three sites now have this similar message posted on them.

After discussions with Take-Two Interactive, effective immediately we are ceasing all maintenance, development and distribution of the Lexicon cheat menu services. We will be donating our proceeds to a charity designated by Take-Two. We apologize for any and all problems Lexicon has caused to the Grand Theft Auto Online community.

I don’t think anyone can really be outraged at this takedown as the tools created did facilitate cheating, which would cause imbalance online.

  1. This seems like the step they should’ve taken first, it’s a good move and they should be praised but last weeks news takes the edge off it. Surely offline modding and anti cheat measures can exist together these days?

  2. Now, why didn’t they do this and leave OpenIV alone? I can understand why people would use the cheating one because GTA:Online is said to a massive grindfest unless you buy a shark card but tis good to see him taking action against cheaters.

Now, if they can go back on the OpenIV takedown, they could undo the damage. The damage is done though but it would be a step in the right direction.

Or let Rockstar do content for the singleplayer portion.
