I got far too excited and happy when I learned that you can pet the cats in Assassin’s Creed Origins, and proceeded to waste a good fifteen minutes of our hands on session running around a little village stroking all the kitties I could find. Also an eagle, because you can pet Senu, Bayek’s trained eagle.
AC Origins is a bit strange though, because you can’t pet all the animals you see in Ancient Egypt, whether it’s dogs, cows, chickens, or more dangerous animals like hippos and crocodile. It’s just Senu and the smaller domesticated cats that roam some villages. There is a certain knack to it, but get it right and eventually the little kitties will start following you and your tickling fingers around town. It’s adorable.
Click play below to find out how to do this and then chill out with a good 8-9 minutes of cat petting, eagle stroking and setting rampaging hippos on fire. All in gorgeous 4K from an Xbox One X.

Why would you even think of petting cats? There’s a 50% chance they’ll claw your face off if you do that.
And what’s up with those hippos? They look a bit silly. I’m predicting an update sometime after release with the words “updated hippopotamus animations to not look like something one of our kids made”.
The rest of it certainly looks very nice though.

Well I don’t know about the cats but what I do know is that this game will be absolutely stunning in 4K on Xbox One X.
How much less stunning does it look in Faux-K on the PS4 Pro?
