Wisp has always been one of the more elusive characters in the Animal Crossing series, and you might spot him floating across your island in New Horizons. Why not say hello to him?
How do you meet Wisp?
Wisp in Animal Crossing: New Leaf was your spirit in a lamp, called upon to let you play with amiibo, but these work differently in New Horizons so he’s been set free to do as he wishes once more. Wisp roams the island as he fancies, but being a spirit, you’re not going to see him during the day.
You’ll want to keep an eye out for Wisp late at night – we tend to see him after 10PM – and away from the centre of your growing town. He can appear up atop the cliffs, so you might need the ladder to reach him. Wherever you find him, just wander up and say hello!

Oh no! Even just saying hello was enough to spook him so badly that five parts of his spirit are sent flying off to different parts of the island! Seeing as it’s your fault that he had such a scare, it’s only right that you help him out, isn’t it?

How to help Wisp
Helping Wisp is pretty simple. You just have to run around the island and find the five parts of his spirit, scooping them up with a net and bring them back. There’s no real telltale sign or audio cues to hint that you’re near to a spirit piece, so you’ll just have to run around the island and hope that you spot them. We recommend being fairly methodical in how you criss-cross the island, so you don’t miss one, because they can be pretty much anywhere.
Once you have all five, just bring them back to Wisp, restore him to all his spirited glory and get ready for your reward.

What rewards does Wisp give you?
Wisp gives you a choice of reward for making him whole once more. You can either have a new piece of furniture that you don’t already own, or an expensive piece of furniture. Of course, Wisp doesn’t really know what he’s doing here. He’s a spirit, he has no sense of monetary value, so regardless of the option you pick it could be practically anything.
On one occasion we got a metal bucket, on another it was a smoker to compliment our outdoor barbecue set up that we’ve seen on sale for 5,500 Bells!
And with that, he’ll bid you farewell and vanish into thin air. I’m sure you’ll see him again soon though.
