Development studio The Outsiders has announced that it is halting development on Darkborn, aka Project Wight. In Darkborn players would have been a monster that would have lived in an alternative timeline set in the Viking era. In this era, intelligent creatures such as your character would be hunted, so the aim of the game was to survive the culling. This meant your character would be taking out the Vikings. In fact, last year The Outsiders released a sixteen minute long gameplay trailer that showed near enough the beginning of the game, and the creature seeking revenge against that came for it.
In a statement on Twitter, The Outsiders wrote:

“Over the past four years we have been working on a game property we loved very much. This was once called Archenemy, became Project Wight, and finally, Darkborn. Last April we released a gameplay trailer for Darkborn, knowing that it might be our final release. In spite of our best efforts to continue, ultimately we had to make the difficult decision to halt development on the project. Perhaps one day we will return to it: we all hope so and genuinely appreciate the support of everyone who followed us over the years. But one door closes and another opens. We have been working on something else. On something new. Something awesome. Something we really love. We look forward to be being able to share it all with you.”
When The Outsiders will release information about its next project is unknown, but hopefully that will be in the near future. It is a shame about Darkborn as it looked like something a bit different. Maybe, The Outsiders will be able to go back to it in a few years after it has wrapped its current project.
