There may be some movement on the Insomniac’s 2014 colourfully bonkers open world game Sunset Overdrive, as Sony has just registered a trademark for the name. However, it may also simply be a case of getting all the administration in order due to Sony now owning Insomniac Games. Sunset Overdrive was an Xbox One console exclusive and published by Microsoft, though Insomniac Games retained the rights of ownership.
If Sony is looking to bring Sunset Overdrive to the PlayStation consoles then some kind of agreement may have to be struck with Microsoft, and it is not out of the realm of possibility these days. Sunset Overdrive is currently available through Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The game is also available on PC. In our review for Sunset Overdrive, Dom wrote:
Sunset Overdrive has so many amazing moments that I could just fill this entire review with them. It is hilarious, chaotic, stupid, brash, intelligent, explosive, and empowering, and revels in it at every opportunity. If everyone thought Master Chief would carry the Xbox One’s fortunes, then they’ve got another thing coming.

Sunset Overdrive was such a great game, pretty underrated and a shame it didn’t get a sequel. A ps4/5 remaster would be cool as it deserved a bigger audience.

One of my all-time favourites – a remaster or sequel will do me fine, though it was a great looking game anyway!
