New details about the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl remakes have been revealed, as players are invited back to the Sinnoh region on Nintendo Switch this November.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl are remakes of the classic Nintendo DS Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl from 2006. The emphasis here has been to faithfully recreate the original game experience, updating the original sprite-based graphics to have a top down view rendered in 3D, before battles transform things with a battle view akin to the recent Pokémon Let’s Go games.

The new trailer shows off meeting Professor Rowan, the return of Team Galactic and the exploration of the Grand Underground. Not everything is like-for-like though, and the Sinnoh region’s Pokémon Super Contests will return as super Contest Shows, players will be able to meet up with other Trainers in the Union room and you’ll be able to get creative with the Capsule Decoration feature. In essence, these are revamped and enhanced versions of features from the original game.

Though it won’t be supported at launch, Pokémon Home compatibility will arrive in 2022, letting you transfer your little monstersbetween the various Pokémon games.

Alongside the release of the paired remakes, Nintendo will release a special edition Nintendo Switch Lite consoles. The Dialgo & Palkia Switch Lite sports a silver Dialga and golden Palkia on the back. Flashy!

For many Pokémon fans, the return to Sinnoh will be more than welcome, but for others, it’s just a way to tide them over until the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. That game transforms the experience with a more modern 3D action RPG-style of camera, building on the open world elements that debuted in Pokémon Sword & Shield as Game Freak delve into the history of the Pokémon universe, the Sinnoh region and how the legendary Pokémon Arceus shaped the region.
