Sega has announced that Total War: Warhammer 3 will be releasing on 17th February 2022. The game will also be available on day one via Xbox Game Pass for PC, while those who pony up and buy the game in advance or during the first week on sale will get a free Ogre Kingdoms race pack.

Considering the delay that pushed the game from a 2021 release to early 2022, the free Ogre Kingdoms pack is a nice sweetener for those twiddling their thumbs waiting for a new Total war game. The race pack two Legendary Lords for the race – Greasus Goldtooth & Skrag the Slaughterer – and lets you play as them in the grand campaign, these towering warriors rampaging forth in search of plunder, gold, and lots and lots of food.

The Ogre Kingdoms are able to attack from long-range as then charging into broken range with monstrous cavalry. The campaign places them in the Mountains of Mourn and has you branch out from there to seek your riches from taking on contracts.

Announced back in February, Total War: Warhammer III will feature a new grand campaign, tasking you with saving or exploiting a dying god, with each race having a different journey through the Chaos Realm that builds up to an endgame to decide the fate of the world. Previously revealed were the icy forces of Kislev and the Chaos armies of Khorne.

We went hands on with a preview of Total War: Warhammer 3 a little while ago, playing as Kislev as they stepped into the realm of Khorne in the new Survival battle mode. We said:

All in all, it’s a fun twist on the classic style of Total War battling. While it’s called ‘Survival’, in truth you’re alternately defending and attacking, going from a push forward to a capture point to setting up defences and choosing where to spend your precious Supplies.

Originally expected to release in late 2021, Sega announced a few months ago that Total War: Warhammer 3 will release in early 2022 for PC instead, giving the team at Creative Assembly more time to polish fantasy their grand strategy epic. Thankfully a February release is not too far into 2022, even if it is looking to be one of the single busiest months of big budget game releases ever.
