For Honor gets a brand new look in latest update

For Honor has shocked players by rolling out a surprise update, giving the fighting game a whole new look.

Available today and today only, the “Toon Filter” gives For Honor a cool cel-shaded look, similar to Borderlands and a certain Ubisoft game we’re still madly in love with.

Although not quite as elaborate as some of the developer’s previous April Fool’s pranks, it definitely adds some visual flair atop the gore and mutilation. Having played (and actually won!) several back to back matches today, I can’t help but think of 2008’s Prince of Persia which sported a very similar style.

In previous years, we’ve seen the Rabbids invade For Honor, as well as having weapons turned into lightsbaers (with sound effects, and all).

Recently, the game entered its sixth year of post-launch support. Dubbed “Lost Horizons” For Honor Year 6 takes a step back from the unending war between Knights, Vikings, Samurai, and the Wu Lin. Instead, players are invited to delve into the legends and mythology of Heathmoor starting with Y6S1, Golden Age. There’s a new battle pass, a new time-limited game mode, and the first unique hero skin – Lord Ramiel, the First Warden.

If you were expecting a new hero to join the roster, then you’ll have to wait. For Honor has only just added the Pirate to its ranks though promises that two more heroes will rise up during Year 6. In case you missed here arrival, the Pirate introduced an entirely new faction known as the Outlanders, fighters who don’t owe an allegiance to any particular army. There are no clues as to who the next two heroes are though hopefully they’ll be similarly as unconventional.
