A Close Look At inFamous 2’s Old/New/Old Cole

Two new screenshots have arrived for inFamous 2 and give a good look at new/old/new/old Cole McGrath.  Personally I was quite happy with grumpy, rufty-tufty Cole and didn’t think he needed a make-over but he got one anyway and this is the result…

Extreme-Ginger Cole with tattoos that look like a car has run over his arm two weeks ago, a scar that looks like crevice rather than a scar and no eyebrows. Possibly the most generic looking game character ever.

Also, what’s going on with his stomach in the second picture? It’s lumpy and he looks like he’s got a little beer belly and moobs due to his weird posture. What the hell have the done to you Cole?

To be fair Cole was a bit ginger to start with but at least he didnt look like a Ken doll who spends his free time drowning kittens. Here he is in his orginal form.

    • I prefer the term “bit of rough”, but at least he looks human.

  2. as far as the lack of hair goes, what with his powers being based around electricity there’s a chance he might not have any hair any more, it’d be like all over electrolysis.

    of course the stubble would seem to indicate otherwise.

    how’s he get the scar anyway? i thought he healed from any injury with a bit juice, he certainly took enough gunshots while i was playing the game.

  3. The original ‘new’ cole was better than either of these imo. Here he’s a bald, grumpy-looking, gravelly voiced grunt with a scar. how original! XD

    • Well he does a look a bit similar to the first game, but a mixture of the old and original new would have been better I think…

    Why are the developers so hell-bent on changing their main character?

    I have conducted a highly scientific survey for you, here are the results:

    Old Cole: WOULD.
    New Cole: Not a billion years the Ken Doll, Kitten Drowing, Eyebrowless freak.

    Hope that helps and you could at least see fit to include an Old Cole Skin in some free DLC.

  7. What worries me most is the formulaic way they’ve probably ended up here. They’ve made him so generic that he looked like an Action Man doll. Sadly, they then went for the cheap trick of adding a scar. Really? REALLY? *facepalms* He had plenty of visual character to his face in the old shot. Still, at least he doesn’t look like a boy band member any more.

    Looking once more, his eyes were everything in the old Cole shot. In the new one they are supposed to be piercing, I guess. It simply doesn’t work but you know what? As Crawfail mentions on the forum, we mustn’t write things off. So what if he’s changed a bit. I’m stoked to see how the sequel is going to turn out and there’s no way I’d miss out on enjoying it.

  10. There was nothing wrong with original Cole….

    They must be kicking themselves…all the extra work and development for nothing. They should have stuck with the complete original character instead of messing around…..

    I hope this doesnt spoil the game as inFamous is awesome!
