A bit of CV hunting by superannuation has revealed that a new Crytek IP is being developed for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The genre will be…shooter! That’s right; the description on the CV says “New IP, shooter genre, TBA title for Xbox360, PS3 and PC (1 year).
It also shows a third person shooter was in the works but was cancelled after half a year. That is actually quite surprising.

We didn’t expect Uncharted from Naughty Dog but they’re now one of the most respected devs in the industry and not just for one particular franchise. Something different would’ve shown some real breadth and depth in their portfolio. A bit “meh” at more FPS from the FPS brigade (read: Crytek).

Yeah they are doing Ryse (Codename Kingdoms) for Microsoft, but that’s a first-person hack and slash :)
And it’s a Kinect title. Microsoft’s attempt to convince the core users, that Kinect can be hardcore. To be core users still want proper controls and so far I have seen nothing from Kinect deliver that.

Your correct in saying about a new ip. But for Crytek, it’s technically new IP as they acquired it from a company that went into liquidation. Thus meaning it’s theres for to change as they please.. But your right, it will probably be a brand new game. Aside from the rumour today about Timesplitters 4 being announced soon.

If it’s another FPS i hope it has a bit more personality to it than Crysis 2 which looked and played well but still left me a bit cold.
