LBP: Box-art Revealed

ThreeSpeech have just let us know that they’ve got the final UK box-art for LittleBigPlanet. Head on over there, and then let us know what you think of it.

Personally, I think it’s a bit too messy - I get the whole create thing, but something simpler would have been my choice. Do you think it will help shift copies off the shelves when released?

I’m liking it, the messiness matches the art style they’re going for in the level design so i think its fits. Sackboy’s smile is a tad creepy however.

Now that you mention it, the smile does remind me of some horror movie…

I get the stickers, and the blueprint, and the globe - they all work, but not together in some kind of crazy mashup. I like it less the more I look at it.

Not that keen myself, but Sony need to position Sackboy in the way Sega did Sonic, and Nintendo did Mario….

This looks like a classic case of too much in the design brief to me. All the elements of the game are there but I don’t necessarily think they all need to be.
I’m not sure if this is a quote from someone or if I thought it up myself when I started designing but I always try to work to this principle:

In a world of noise a moment of silence is deafening.

I think it’s gorgeous. I’ve got no idea what LBP is about from looking at that though.

It’s colourful enough to get people to pick it up. “oooh shiny!” What’s on the back will be more important for the impulse sales though. I’d hate to be the guy that has to sum this up for your average consumer in a paragraph.

to be honest, ive never been a fan of box art myself…and never EVER bought a game on those merits alone…now, the back is a different kettle of fish ;)
(i remember buying mastertronic games under the illusion that commodore64 graphics would be the same on my humble speccy)
    bastards…

i think that the box art is quite funky and will be a good selling point for the PS3. Great marketing

Too messy, i think sackboy should have his tongue hanging out, i like it when he does that.
