If you’ve been holding out for a game that’s quite like Bejewelled but with some RPG bits thrown in too, then rejoice! D3Publisher, amidst lots of earlier rumours that we ignored, has finally announced that Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, and the expansion Revenge of the Plague Lord, will hit the PlayStation Store very soon.  Puzzle Quest is already available on the PSP, the DS, the 360 and the ZX Spectrum, and is finally making its way to our favourite black console. And then the PS3.

“Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords crafted a new genre when it launched in 2007, and players’ enthusiasm for fresh experiences spurred D3 to release the game across every major gaming system in our current market,” said Peter Andrew, D3Publisher. “We plan to bring an equally inspiring gameplay experience to players across the globe with Puzzle Quest: Galactrix in early 2009, so prepare for more nights of puzzle tiles dancing behind your eyelids!”

The full sequel, Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, will land on every other console bar the PS3.  So we get the old game, but not the new game.  Swings and roundabouts, really, except the swing is really old and creaky, and probably has a bit of sick on it from last night’s Buckfast session.

  1. An old port, late to the PS3 party as usual

    • In before Gamoc: “but surely all PS3 games are good news, right?”

      • …unless its puzzlequest :P

      • Rampart wasn’t good news. That was really bad news. That was like finding out your cat had been run over by next door’s car.

      • …unless it’s Puzzle Quest :D

  2. “In before Gamoc: “but surely all PS3 games are good news, right?””

As long as we continue to lap up ports of games a year late, while other console owners get their sequels then they’ll keep porting them late

But yes all games are good news, even PuzzleQuest

The late port I’m hoping for though is Braid

  3. Q*Bert wasnt good news either. That was really really bad news. That was like finding out your cat AND dog AND priceless antiques had been run over by next door’s car.

….sorry i didnt really care for that game.
