Back on the 18th we ran a story debating the alleged 54.3% failure rate of the Xbox 360, as reported by 5,000 readers of Game Informer magazine.  Microsoft have since responded with an expected statement to TG Daily that sums up the official line from the company: “Microsoft stands behind the Xbox 360 as a superior entertainment console with one of the best warranties in the industry.”

“We are constantly improving the design, manufacture and performance of the console through extensive testing of potential sources of any problems,” continued the spokesperson. “Xbox 360 is pleased to maintain the title of ‘most played console’ and the vast majority of Xbox 360 customers have enjoyed a terrific gaming and entertainment experience since their first day, and continue to, day in and day out.”

Naturally, everyone has their own story but polling just 5,000 views isn’t exactly scientific for the sort of statement Game Informer were running with. Personally, I’ve on my fourth (I think) Xbox 360 since launch, and I look after all my games machines as well as anyone else. Have there every been any problems with a swap over console or the transfer of the Arcade games, saves and so on? Not once.

Thanks, radiobridge, via TG Daily.
