As if it wasn’t completely obvious from the ending of the last one, there will be another Prince of Persia game. This pleases me. The first awarded me my first platinum and holds a dear place in my heart. The game will be officially announced next year, but just now it’s just officially being said to be on its way. What the difference between those two terms are is beyond me. I suppose we’ll get a full title, release window, platforms and a bit of info in Spring. The almost-announcement-but-not-quite goes like this:

Our last bit of news is a juicy one: Ubisoft will be announcing a new Prince of Persia game in the spring, according to the team, but it’s not their place to give out any details.

It was revealed by neoseeker earlier this week whilst they previewed the trailer for the film adaptation which nicely links into the next part of the article.

The full trailer has now been released and for the first time, you can see what the final film should look like. It may be true that all game-film adaptations are horrendous, but I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this probably won’t be. With a massive budget and talented team (the first Pirates was very good) behind it, I feel confident. Even if it does turn out to be pretty shallow and plotless, it at least looks like it will be a lot of fun. You know, in a Transformers kind of way.

  1. *gulp* The trailer was good

    • Just what I thought.

      • Me too!!!

      • yes – really goood trailer, not sure about the plot though.

  2. I hope they keep the humor and charm from the game and not from the DLC, i f***** hated the DLC, was pure agony to play through.

The trailer for the movie does looks good, though I’m a bit skeptical about Jake Gyllenhall though.

    • Same here!! How could the DLC be so dreadful, when the full game was so much fun!!??

  3. Really looking forward to this. Looks great. I’m normally cynical of game movies and Jerry Bruckheimer but I have to admit, that looks fun.

  4. I can’t wait!!!! PoP gave me my 2nd plat, shame I could not afford to get the DLC, (actually the wife said no lol)

    • PoP was my second platinum also!! Good ol’ Burnout was the first!! :)

  5. niiiiice, PoP was a totally underated game in my opinion. I hope the movie is just as good.

  6. Damn, looks proper! Huh!

  7. Surprisingly good. I just wish they’d use the logo from the games.

  8. history has made me look a fool too many times. i will insist it’s going to be crap until i see it.

    • The future is much kinder than history. The future gives you hugs and kisses and balloons too.

  9. His accent bothers me

    • with you on that one, but apart from that the movie looks fun.

  10. Should be a good film especially with Jerry Bruckheimer at the helm.

  11. all i can see are a lot of specail effects and very atractive people. very hollywood but i’m not getting the full impact because the sounds broken on this so called “pc”

  12. mAY 28TH… i’m there already!

  13. I don’t like the movie’s font. Other than that, it looks excellent.

  14. i wouldn’t say all game movies have been horrendous, most yeah, some have just been not that good, and there were a few decent films.
    this looks good though.
seems to have all the elements from the games, and the way the prince looks when he uses the sands looks an awful lot like he does in the two thrones game.
maybe they’re thinking ahead for a potential sequel.
i was going to go see this anyway but it could be a good action film.
not that i’m fussy, i liked waterworld :)

  15. I’ve a copy of the script and it’s actually a decent action flick. Strays quite a bit from the original game’s plot, but it plays better that way. The script lends itself more to a movie than a video game, but that’s a good thing.

    • The guy that wrote the script, John August (Go, Big Fish, The Nines) has an interesting article up on his blog about how they pitched the movie using a trailer made up from game footage. You can see the pitch at http://johnaugust.com/archives/2009/pitching-prince-of-persia

(Sorry if the link doesn’t come up properly i’m only new on here and I can’t figure out if I should tag it in a particular way or not).
