Microsoft UK has been demoing Natal to publishers and it appears someone has been rather indiscrete and blabbed all to MCV. According to their website, Microsoft is aiming to have 5 million units ready for the simultaneous world wide launch in November 2010.
The price tag will be below £50, possibly even as low as £30 to try and make Natal an ‘impulse buy’. Fourteen games will be available at launch from publishers such as Activision, EA, Sega and Ubisoft. No game titles were given so it is not known whether Milo will be a launch title.

Well I guess Natal is now pretty awesome. That pricing is spot on, and way better than I’d expected.

yeah i reckon 30 is a good price. and 14 games is a good number for launch.. how many of them are good however remains to be seen…

I am surprised at the Nov 2010 release date, although that gives them all of the big shows next year to hype it up, E3, TGS etc. It will be interesting to see if Sony still release the motion controller next spring and use the 6 months lead time to build up a base of games and user base to compete with the inevitable multi million pound celebrity endorsed campaign MS will come up with for this launch.
2010 is already shaping up to be a defining year in gaming.

I don’t think they can get it out earlier, they were saying at E3 that it was a long way from being done. By contrast Sony pretty much had the software ready, it’s just a case of getting the hardware shaped etc…

With both of them it is more about the software than the hardware…devs havent had these peripherals to work with for very long (outside of internal studios)

Maybe it’s just me being old-school but i feel Natal is too gimmicky to make a big impact, the fact that there is no controller bug’s me… a lot.

Lot of people thought the Wii was too gimmicky though.

I still think the Wii is gimmicky.

I have a wii, and it is a gimmick…the games are ok for a party, and people with a few beers inside them, but for any other gaming i use my ps3. The only ‘proper game’ i have played on my wii is Tiger Woods with the motion+, mairo kart, and possibly sean whites snow boarding…there are a few others, but most games are party games that have the same movements through out.
The natal looks ok, it just needs to have the accuracy for ‘real games’ for people like us (TSA users)…

I have the same feelings about it.
I also think it will be just as precise as the Eyetoy and Wiimote = not nearly precise enough for anything fastpaced.

I kinda agree. It looks great and will work really well for minigame type stuff, or that painting thing. But for actual games, it could become really annoying to use :/
Sony also needs a nunchuk type controller too since holding the DS3 with the wand is a bit silly.

I’m really suprised that it will be priced that reasonably. At that price point people like myself, who simply have a passing interest in it, will be sorely tempted to pick one up. If that is to be the price point then it’s a smart move on Microsofts part.

I think if it’s £30 I’d pretty much buy it just to see. £50 is a little tougher, but if it has good title support I’d get it.

I still fail to see how this will work as a stable controller.
Everyone that’s expecting it to work in a ‘real’ game will likely be disappointed as its not really cut out for anything much more than what EyeToy games produce.
I work with mocap kit, there’s no way that it can react fast and accurately enough to produce hood results.
I’m happy to be proven wrong though when it releases.

They should bundle it with a slim edition, that would be… intriguing.

Damn it! I have 1 year to make this stair cupboard bigger! Wonder how Mrs Fruit would feel about using a pole to get to and from our second floor. A pole? why didn’t i think of that before!?!?

It could work well with games like Command and Conquerer or turn based RPG’s. These types of games are often pretty chilled out where you can take your time positioning your pieces. Not too intrested in the faster games. It would be too much like the Wii. Im a couch potatoe gamer and like to sit in front of a screen for hours using just my thumbs, jumping around like a lunatic doesn’t appeal to me very much. Just thinking about it has made me tired. Im off for a siesta.

at £50 or less its a no brainer for me. Im sure there will be reviews prior to it coming out so if they prove a bit rubbish then Ill leave it, but something tells me this might be quite special.

After I have been work all day and then gone to the gym I like to relax and chill out on the PS3 or 360. I do not want to run on the spot. I do not want to do star jumps. I do not want to get out of my chair or beanbag.

It seems like a bit of a wait until next November, but as long as it’s priced around the £30-£35 mark, I think it’ll sell well.

£30 with 14 games is impressive, and should definitely satisfy consumers.
PS3 wand will probably be around the same price, but with 5 games…

Who will “Milo” appeal to? Is that even a game or a tech demo?
