Whilst we’re still waiting on the green light to discuss the finer details of the PlayStation Network Video Delivery Service (catchy) we can say that it’s really not very far away. At all. Myself and Davs are on the way to the launch party in London right now, and as soon as we can there’ll be tweets going out [@_nofi,@djhsecondnature] (and then the rest of the guys are on standby to pick them up) but in the meantime, here’s the final launch trailer which gives you an exclusive idea of the content coming soon…
If anyone else is going to the party, say hi, and we’ll see you there.

I am a bit indifferent to the video store at the moment because I need to get a bigger HDD before I can use it. It depends just how big the movies will be.

PlayTV file sizes are insane so I would guess that compression rates on movie downloads won’t be particularly harsh, resulting in large filesizes. I could be wrong though.

I’d like to think that pseudo-DVD quality weighs in at 1.4GB or so with 720p films being 4.5GB or so (like .mkv films on the net).

Yeah thats what worries me. I only have about 10gb free on my 60gb and thats only because I delete any unwanted game data files and keep music and videos to a minimum.

Yeah that is what is making me doubt the usefullness of the service for me at the present moment in time. I love the idea but Im on a 40gb right now and I cant find my external drive to back it all up and upgrade to atleast 250gb. Oh well, I guess alot of us with the smaller HDD will need to either delete stuff or upgrade.

When this was released to america in 2008 it was “competitevely priced” So its probably gonna be very expensive here in europe…

they’ll have to be competetive with Blockbuster and the like or not worth bothering. I reckon we’ll be looking at around the £3 mark for rentals and £12 for purchaces

Thats a pretty cool trailer, I agree they should get it on the telly. I don’t know if I’ll use this service, it depends how much it costs, and how much memory it takes up per film.
