After months of beta testing, Media Molecule are finally ready to release LittleBigPlanet’s Online Create mode, as part of the always cheesy Leerdammer 1.21 update. The patch, which unlike the recent t-shirt proudly celebrating the release of the PSP version, will be free, and will also feature numerous tweaks and fixes, not least the way the game handles network code – selecting ‘Play Online’ will now find people closer to you (and thus with hopefully less lag). There’s also improvements to the save structure, profile space and the new ability to create backups of your levels.
For the resf of the improvements, click here – a trailer for the update is available here.

That is nice. Any words on LBP 2 ? There was a rumour sometime that it was under development

I think the latest rumours are no LBP2 just expansion DLC so that the core users are not split between games etc.

Media Molecule have basically said they don’t want to make one, they feel it would badly effect LBP, and they’d rather work on content for that. I mean what is there to add that couldn’t be DLC? What would be the point?

I wish they would actually release more content for LBP though. I haven’t heard about any DLC for LBP for ages. It’s kinda disappointing and makes you wonder what they’re up to. Sony Cambridge studios (I think) have been making LBP:PSP so MM can’t have had much to do there. Hopefully they’ll release something soon. Maybe they’re working on an entirely new game under the Play. Create. Share moniker.

They aren’t doing LBP2 until PS4.

Sounds great but I find it hard communicating to someone sitting next to me when creating never mind in different geographical locations

Yeah I agree, but then, the person next to me usually hasn’t got their heart in it, I can’t see this feature being used by online strangers.

Yeah, not sure if I could see myself creating a whole level with someone online but it would be really nice to say to one of my friends, ‘could you show me how you did ___ in your level?” or if friendly creators want to go and help someone out.

Awesome. I hope the network code improvements are good. Too bad my LBP disc is stuck in my 60gb which broke for the 2nd time last weekend. (only lasted a month after the first repair… got sick of it and bought a Slim a few days ago)

Sounds great and if the online tweaks are successful at eliminating the multiplayer lag the awesome stuff.

I got quite bored of LBP and traded it in months ago to help me purchase Red Faction but now i wish I didn’t with this and water. I was never good at making levels anyway but it would of been fun.

Dude, check around some prices, I have seen LBP as lowly priced as £8.99 at some online stores.

Yay, finally increased profile space
I can’t count how many times I got the message “Your profile could not be saved because it is too large” and had to delete a lot of stuff I would’ve liked to keep.

LittleBigPlanet was good at the time, but how many people are going to return to it just for this?

I agree and disagree. Little Big Planet is the PS3’s Peter Pan. It will NEVER grow old!
The new interface is quite nice though.

I actually do not think LBP is getting old colmshan, however all my mates I used to play it with are disagreeing. Obviously this new mode needs community input to be worthwhile, therefore that is why I think they have left it a little too late.

If you need to do a backup, you also have to do an in-game backup?! I’m never going to remember to do that!
