Modern Warfare 2 Given ELSPA’s Top Award

13The statistics for Modern Warfare 2 have been staggering and abundant. With sales exceeding half a billion dollars worldwide and accolades such as ‘biggest entertainment release of all time’, it’s not hard to believe the latest. ELSPA (Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association) have now given Modern Warfare 2 the Diamond sales award. The honour is only given to those who manage to sell over 1 million copies in the UK.
This Diamond award is for the Xbox 360 version of the game. It joins the best of the best as only the 16th title to receive the award. The PS3 version has reached Double Platinum, which indicates sales over 600,000.
It joins the Diamond ranks with 4 GTA games, Halo 3, Modern Warfare and…The Simpsons: Hit & Run!
It’s also interesting to note (If I have understood the list correctly) that if MW2 receives the Diamond sales award for the PS3 too, then it would become the first title to sell over a million units on both platforms in the UK.
