FF Reunion is reporting that Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura has been stirring up the hype machine again in the latest issue of Gamega magazine. When asked by the magazine what he’s most looking forward to in 2010, Nomura decides to answer in the cryptic rather than directly, saying that although he can’t yet say the name, it’s something many people are currently anticipating and one he’s recieved personal requests about, foreseeing a huge reaction to its revelation.
Here’s hoping he’s referring to that remake of Final Fantasy VII.
Thanks, RPGLand.

I’d love a collection on a blu-ray touched up God of War style. I wonder how many FF games you could fit on a blu-ray?

Bare minimum you could get 7, 8 and 9 on one disc, depends on how shiny a remake it is.

There is no point in remaking PSOne ones as most of them are already in the Store. The need is only for 10, optionally 10-2, and 12.

I imagine that even if you used some of the recent remakes, you could fit all of them up to nine on a single disc. Fitting more would depend on how much remastering was done on the PSX and PS2 iterations.

With all due respect, Person, you of course know that there was a PSOne version of almost every “before 7″ FF (except III). Afaik Origins of FFI and FFII are already in the Japanese Store, and the others can be played on PS3 if you get the chance to get a disc. So the real need is only for PS2 ones.

correct me if im wrong< but i understand thr hding of an old game (gow im looking at you) dosnt take that long. im sure i read that it only took a few weeks to hd gow.
with that in mind surely a hd remake would be the best, and fatstest option? i appreciate that the original has only just been released on the ps store but you know~its a thought

HD’ing a game where the characters are made up of oblongs would be so so stupid.
let him make a remake, thats all sqenix seem to do nowadays anyway

if they remake it, it’s gonna take another 4 years!
a hd version would at least make it playable on my hd tv, and those back drops would just look amazing….
then again, i’d much prefer a remake of ff8. far better game imho

It’d sell by the bucketload if they did a full re-make, far more than XIII has done.

It would sell tons, of that I have no doubt, and it’d be great for people, like myself, who completely missed out on what many consider to be the best RPG of all time.
So from me, this gets a thumbs up.

How are you still missing out? It’s on the PSN store, and getting a disc copy on eBay isn’t that hard.

Because i want to own it on physical media as opposed to digital, and the prices on ebay are more than I want to pay for a 10+ year old game. Not to mention that the graphics would quite possibly make my eyes bleed after being spoilt by my PS3 for all this time.
A remake would, for me, warrant a higher price point.

He could be refering to his legendary BLT sandwiches
“although he can’t yet say the name, it’s something many people are currently anticipating and one he’s recieved personal requests about”

I thought it was widely assumed that they were probably going to do it once FF13 was on the shelves. Which is it. So…

It’ll be either KH3 or FFVII remake, but I’m guessing KH3.
KH:BBS will be out in January and I believe there will be a trailer for KH3 if you beat it 100%. Plus it makes more sense than a FFVII remake since Nomura was only the character designer.

i just bought vii off the psn, already got it on disc so i bought it for my psp.
if there’s a most requested game then surely the ffvii remake is that game.
a remake with graphics like advent children and a full voice cast would be… well words can’t describe how happy i would be to see it

Einhänder was wicked. I just wish they would get a sequel or remake for the PSP, which is the way Darius went recently.

It had better be an FF7 remake.Square have got to throw the fans a bone.Kingdom hearts is too lightweight. It better not be dirge of cerberus 2.

No, not the only one. I am a huge fan of FFVII, but only see them messing up a remake like they did with Crisis Core. Now I’m not saying CC was a bad game (it was great), but they really messed up a powerful scene in Neibelheim where Sephiroth rips off a mechanical cover to reveal Jenova’s body. They ruined it by changing the musical score from this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJx116vWvPA) to a song that sounds like the pianist was mashing on the keys haphazardly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSMXErY6NDE).
If they do remake FFVII, I think they will just infuse it with the new themes that Square-Enix has developed since making VII, and make all their characters one hit personalities (like they were in Advent Children) and ‘Disney-fying’ all the interactions that reveal the dirt (read: personalities) of the characters (ex ‘Shut up! Sit your ass down in that chair and drink your GODDAMN tea!’ – Cid).
And they’ll probably change the battle system into some real-time action hybrid. I think the real beauty of the materia system was in its simplicity.

guys its a remake not a port so they would only fit FFVII on the disk
