GTA DLC Coming To PS3? No, Just No. [55]

Released on the Xbox 360 in October 2009, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City is coming to the PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows, Rockstar have just confirmed to TheSixthAxis.

Ending the last few days of back and forth speculation fuelled by the presence of the game on SimplyGames.com, this is great news for PS3 only gamers looking for more from GTA IV as the previously Xbox 360-only DLC moves to other platforms.

Episodes from Liberty City is a disk-based compilation of the episodic downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV including the expansion packs The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.  “It’s been a long time coming, but we are proud to finally deliver Episodes From Liberty City for the PC and PlayStation 3,” said Rockstar’s Sam Houser silencing months of rumour.

“We appreciate the patience of our PlayStation 3 and PC fans worldwide, and we look forward to putting the games in your hands this March.”  Both episodes will be available together on March 30th.  The press release says the game will be on sale via the PSN Store, although we assume going off the events this week there’s every chance that there’s going to be a disk, too.

  1. Sweet. About time!

    • Pretty much.

      • Too late for me…

      • Not for me.
The trophies weren’t out when I finished the game so this gives me the kick I needed to start playing GTA again.
Although I’ve just started Burnout Paradise again to get the trophies so don’t know when I’ll have the time for GTA.

  2. Brilliant! It was only a matter of time… And money I guess.

I think this is the perfect excuse to dust off GTA4 and have another go before March. Looking forward to this.

    • Same here.. did not play it for long.. tried again when the trophies came… will now try again when the DLC uh.. C is here ;)

  3. And bam! just like that, over night. I can’t wait to get my… oh wait! March? Geez, what is the obsession with the video games industry and march?

    • I know yeah? There’s like atleast 3 things i want for March!

      • My birthdays in March suckers!

      • Yes, please spread out the games over the year and not congregate in March. Missus, brother and a mate’s birthdays are all in March. Hmm I guess I can cancel Valentine stuff to pay for it ;)

  4. It’ll be interesting to see how many people get back to playing GTA because of this DLC. No-one on my list has touched the game for a while now.

    • i was thinking that too. this is the first dlc I’ve been tempted to buy also. i didn’t see a note about pricing but i guess it is safe to assume it is the same as 360??

  5. YES!!!!!!

  6. Great news, been looking forward to playing these and always hoped they would port over eventually. I really liked GTA IV so this is a definite for me. So what was the timing on the exclusivity on the DLC? From the release of the Gay Tony download pack?

  7. Awesome, I loved GTAIV, haven’t played it for an age as I couldn’t get past one of the endings, drove me mad so I gave up. I might start from stratch again in a while just to get used to the city and controls again.

  8. Even though they are different developers and such, i still have a feeling ME and/or SC will make it’s way to PS3 eventually.

  9. Great news but March? March? Bloody hell how’s anyone supposed to afford that

    • I bet they looked at a release schedule to find a slot somewhere and decided on May. Then the gravitational pull from the collected releases in March grabbed the date and pulled it in. It’s like a black hole!

  10. Love it. Been playing GTAIV recently (killing those flying rats proved to be quite entertaining in fact), and I still love this game. The city is incredible. So more missions, more weapons, and base jumping and parachute ? Count me in.
