The delightful Olga Puzanova from SCEE has posted an update of movie store titles on the Euro PS Blog. It seems they are listening to some criticisms and this week are concentrating on HD films on the store including Terminator Salvation and Inglourious Basterds which are in 5.1 surround sound. Before you start filling up the comments section complaining about the prices and release dates please remember it is not SCEE who set them, it is the movie studios that dictate these factors.

I would prefer more to rent than buy ( got 4 Blu-Ray for 4 nights for a tenner from Blockbuster) but I do like the list.

the pricing is way of sync with whats available elsewhere, 14.99/month sees me get through 2-3 Blu-ray movies a week from LoveFilm, in addition to 1-2 games a week (depending how long I hang on to them)… for that money I would only get 3 HD movie rentals a month from the PSN Video Store.
Plus many Blu-ray movies are cheaper to buy than Sony’s download version, and they have a resale value… I suppose thats similar to the PSPgo’s games
Plus the tech looks a bit shit, whatever runs Qriocity looks miles better, but its still too expensive

HD to own! Give it a few months and hopefully by the summer we should start to see TV shows.

Some good titles among them! When will the video store be released in EU mainland?

They really need to introduce some kind of monthly subscription scheme if they are ever going to compete with the likes of LoveFilm…
Also who in their right mind would pay £14.99 for a HD title that costs £12.99 or less to buy on Blu-ray – complete with better picture quality, much superior HD audio, extra features like documentaries and directors commentary, a physical format transportable and playable anywhere without restriction, and the ability to sell it on should you wish to in the future?
To a point I can understand SD ownership for PSP users that want a portable copy of the movie (though more and more Blu-ray come with Digital Copy now) and I can also understand the appeal in renting TV’s shows, especially people without a Sky One subscription, but I can see no logical reason why anyone would even entertain the idea of buying a HD digital copy of a film from the PSN Video Store…

i agree with your argument here for blurays, but i have always said for a psp download and non-physical content is better. i think the difference is loads of people will want to watch movies together, but going to someone else and using their psp is unsocial and wont be done. umds only benefit is the resale – but thats hardly millions. this video download service is crap, if i want a cheap SD movie right now ill use virgin on demand. PS movies take forever.

After waiting 3 hours to download a film i wont be using this service ever again. I could have nipped into town and got the film and watched it before the damn thing had downloaded

Buying a film from playstation store is stupid, they charge way too much, I just rent, what’s the point of buying them your only gonna watch it once and you can’t sell it
