Whilst the GT Academy demo/time trial didn’t do that much to impress me personally, the finalists appear to be competing on a much more advanced version of Gran Turismo 5.

The updated demo, as can be seen in the shots below (via GT Planet) appear to show online functionality, including a live weather hook-up.  It’s unclear as to what this actually involves, but have a good stare at the off-screen photos to see what else you can make out.

Thanks, Andytorr.

  1. “Thanks AndyTorr?” Is he back making a menace of himself around TSA again these days!?

  2. WOW, more GT hype….next?

  3. It sure would be neat if you could race in either that track’s current conditions or in your local conditions.

Guess we won’t know for another half a year though. I don’t understand why Sony lets them keep delaying the damn game. It must be something awesome. Like a livery editor. :)
    I can dream….

    • Thats what I was thinking, the tracks current conditions. But serioulsy, who needs this crap? Just release the fucking game, have this in a patch.

  4. i need to forget about this game, until sony have normal human being release date.

    • tell me about it. but to be fair there are alot of good games coming up soon to dry our tears with

      • yeap ur right

  5. by the time this game comes out, it’s gonna be so hyped up, that we are all going to be very very disapointed. instead of keeping everyone waiting, why dont they just release the game and then every now and then release some dlc or just do a firmware update?

    • It’s already ‘so hyped up’

  6. Where on the screen shots does it suggest anything about changing the weather conditions? If you mean that cloud symbol in the top right, thats just the local weather that we had in the Prologue version isn’t it?
This game could never actually be finished, the longer they delay it the more they think of adding to it, as webby said, just release it then update it as & when.

    • Where in the article does it suggest anything about changing the weather conditions? ;) I’m assuming it’s just local weather, yes.

  7. The latest Tiger Woods has this, its pretty cool, adding further to the realism.

    • Does it include lap dancing sessions between rounds?

  8. Its almost like playing the game, the amount we get to read about it.
It sounds great, the whole game sounds great but it means nothing until we actually get some confirmation on when the thing will be playable.
Until then Forza still owns the road.

  9. Are Polyphony running the risk of creating such as monster that they can no longer control it. It will be the pinnacle of driving games for years to come, but they seriously rn the risk of making this such a big and complicated game that almost everything could go completely wrong

    • Polyphony always seems to pull it out the bag.
Let’s hope they can with GT5.

  10. Argh!! just release so many racers this gen have suffered the Xbox effect

    • * and Supercar Challenge that game is horrible!!!
