Digital Download Sales To Be Revealed

Getting solid figures for standard software sales is tricky enough, but purchases of digital downloads like games from the PSN and XBLA are next to impossible to track, making estimates of how many copies Pixeljunk Shooter has shifted a guessing game.
Until now. Japanese software charters Enterbrain have announced that as of this Spring they’ll be adding digital purchases to their weekly and monthly figures, and will incorporate the Wii Shopping Channel, DSi Shop, PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Marketplace, and Apple’s App Store.
It appears the figures will be extrapolated from a sample of 300,000 Japanese gamers, so whilst not as accurate as the physical tracking, it’s still better than nothing. Figures will be available to it’s paying members (a privilege that costs you ¥200,000 a month).
