Sony: GT5 “Will Ship This Year”

At GDC10 just now, Sony’s Peter Dille has confirmed that the much-delayed racing sim Gran Turismo 5 will “launch this year”, putting an end to vague fears that Polyphony Digital’s super-accurate game would slip eternally and never see the light of day.

He didn’t give any further details, today’s conference is all about PlayStation Move, clearly, but it’s nice to know that Sony haven’t forgotten how to remind their fans that the big games are still coming without really giving very much away in terms of concrete evidence.

Anyone hoping for a demo of GT5 with the PlayStation Move controllers taped to a plastic steering wheel can walk away disappointed, I’m guessing the Japanese developers have more than enough on their plates without having to worry about hacking in motion control.
