Epic Own Gears License, Not Microsoft

21Epic Games’ Mark Rein has revealed that they own the Gears of War IP and therefore they can do “what they want” with it.
The dev was speaking to VG247 at GDC when he said,
We own Gears of War. We can do what we want with it, we have a great relationship with Microsoft, and they helped turn the game into a huge success for us, and we are pretty happy with the way things are going.
So does the above statement suggest that Gears won’t be making an appearance on the PS3 anytime soon? It does sound that way, however PS3 fans shouldn’t worry because Mr Rein also said that they are hoping to announce their latest title very soon, and with that particular game being published by EA then it seems like there may be some love from Epic for the PS3 after all.
