12Though initially upbeat as he quoted better than expected Q1 results on a finance call yesterday, Activision CEO Bobby went on to admit that more talent could leave troubled developer Infinity Ward. Commenting publicly for the first time since the media furore surrounding the removal of co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella from the studio, the CEO believes the recent exodus of staff from the developer is likely to continue. He says:
“Once you begin to understand what has occurred, there was no grey area. There was no way to retain their services, as talented as they might have been. I personally consider both of them friends, and their conduct was a betrayal of that friendship.”
Commenting that he was “upset” at the further defection of 35 IW staff, Kotick continues:
“It is likely a few more will leave as well.”
It’s not all bad news over at the Ward, however, with the outspoken publishing chief claiming that the studio are working on “their next big thing,” and how the Activision are “already strengthening the studio with additional talent and financial resources.”
