Rumour: PSP2 For 2011

The VG247 rumour machine is working overtime today with ‘news’ that the PSP2 will launch in 2011. Once more take these with a pinch of salt, possibly a few truck fulls of salt, as they claim the PSP2 will have a four-core Cell CPU. A Playstation 3 has an eight core Cell plus some very big fans to cool it down, how they plan to cool such a powerhouse processor in a dinky hand held remains to be seen. These are the claims:

• Multiple British sources have confirmed that PSP2 NDAs have been in place at publishers and developers for many months.
• PSP2 has two cameras, one forward and one backward facing.
• It has a touch-screen but  retains the trademark physical PlayStation buttons.
• One source would be “amazed” if there was any kind of physical media involved. It “could” be 3G-enabled.
• There have been “finished units” in the UK, but the final case design is not completed.
• The machine is “fucking powerful”  as it has a four-core Cell CPU.
