I was originally going to title this news story “DJ Hero 2 in Shock Announcement” in that incredibly clever and funny way that’s neither clever nor particularly funny. I thought better of it though, don’t want to get accused of hit-baiting by our ever-vigilant readers.
So, to cut a long story short, Activision have just officially announced DJ Hero 2 and a whole raft of details. So what are we getting? Well, some extra diversity in the musical line up for starters, with quoted artists featuring Dr. Dre (I’m not sure where he got his doctorate), The Chemical Brothers, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Rihanna (anna anna eh eh eh) and Metallica. Honest. You’ll be able to play with two turntables and a microphone in your own living room and they’re promising new multiplayer modes and freestyle functions which allow you to crossfade and scratch.
In celebration of this announcement they’re going to give existing DJ Hero owners a downloadable mix (free on XBL and PSN between June 8 and 14) from DJ Hero 2 for them to play. This mix features everyone’s favourite costumed mentalist, Lady Gaga (Just Dance) and everyone’s favourite deceased rodent, DeadMau5 (Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff).
So there you have it, hardly a surprise that it’s been announced but it sounds like they have taken on board all of the suggestions after the first game and are really pushing to make this sequel a great option for all you aspiring turntablists (am I doing it right?)
