We’ve seen announcements about announcements before but I think this is the first time I’ve seen this happen in an E3 press conference. EA have shown some very impressive Dead Space 2 footage – Issac is at his bad ass best – but at the end of the footage Issac meets what was described in the press conference as his “new nightmare”.
The footage then cuts leaving us with what appears to be a cliff hanger.
The announcement that follows is simply to say that the clip has indeed ended with a cliff hanger and to see the rest we’ll need to watch the Sony press conference tomorrow.
I would be surprised if that was purely for the sake of it, I’m expecting a decent announcement. Could this be the Sony GTA timed-exclusive level of announcement mentioned earlier this year? That really could steal the show.

It would be a great exclusive for Sony to have as in the majority of views the first was a great game. Is it really GTA level of announcement? No. Dead Space isnt soemthing like COD, Halo, FIFA or GTA where even the most casual gamers know about them and that they are likely to be good games. Dead Space is a very under-hyped game and only really known by hardcore gamers.
Im hoping it is coming as an exclusive, but not the one hyped as GTA level of announcement.

Oh crap i forgot…. going by this http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/06/04/how-cool-is-dead-space-2s-cover/ this cant be true can it? EA themselves showing off box art of Dead Space 2 on Xbox 360. If there is some kind of exclusivity deal, its not likely to be the whole game maybe just some DLC.

Dead Space 2 is sadly nowhere near GTA.
HOWEVER the boxes shown for Dead Space and Dead Space 2 on one of the slides was PS3

I also noticed that Need for Speed, Dead Space 2, and Medal of Honor all prominently featured the PS3 – the games were clearly running on PS3, the boxart used only showed the PS3 version, and there were several close-up shots of the PS3 controller during the demos.
It seems to me Sony have been busy getting friendly with EA while Microsoft have been courting Activision. They have clearly got something planned with Dead Space 2 tomorrow, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Sony do something with EA over Medal of Honor to counter the MS/CoD DLC deal as well…

Notice the ‘A’ button used in this one though? This trailer was running on a 360. Not that it matters really…

Didn’t watch the trailer on the site, I watched the conference, and on the live demo it was an X button…
I don’t think it will be an exclusivity agreement, Sony don’t do that, but I bet there will be some exclusive features (Move support?) or DLC involved…

The footage of Dead Space was awesome, and there were gasps from the audience – and me when he said that about the cliffhanger!
Tomorrow’ gonna be a helluva day :)

It was interesting that in the EA presser the Medal of Honour live gameplay was using PS3s. I take that to be a good sign. Though conspiracy theorists will point out that with Activision signing deals with Microsoft, it is only to be expected that EA would sign deals with Sony.

Perhaps those games were built around PS3 hardware.
