Michael Jackson: The Experience

One of the more surreal moments of E3 was at the end of the Ubisoft keynote when some dancers appeared on stage and shook their thang to a Michael Jackson backing track. The rather weird closing of the Ubi event certainly baffled a few TSA staffers in the small of hours of the morning.

It transpired that Ubisoft had secured the exclusive rights for a Michael Jackson game. Now we get some further details on what they’re planning to do with those rights. Titled Michael Jackson: The Experience and set for release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, PSP and DS, it’ll probably come as no surprise that it will feature a mixture of dancing and singing and will make use of the variety of motion controls across the various platforms.

The PS3 and 360 version will both feature the usual variety of karaoke modes and, thankfully for me, an auto-pitch correction for bum notes. Digital Spy are also reporting that through Kinect, the 360 version will offer full body motion tracking and will project players on screen using Ubisoft’s ‘Player Projection’ technology. The handheld versions will be a strictly rhythm based affair, although unlockable mini-games sweeten the deal somewhat.

We have until its November release to perfect our crotch grabbing and Moonwalk.

  1. I love Michael Jackson but… :S

    • Depending on your age he probably loved you too hehe :P

But on a serious note it will not beat the awesome that was Moonwalker on the master system <3

      • I’m 18. And don’t you dare talk smack about MJ :P

      • I’m just a tad older, MJ is a phenomenon

      • HA! Good one =)
Even though he’s a legend, he’s still human, and everybody’s eligible to some smack =)

      • I guess everyone is entitled to some smack, MJ’s just a touchy subject for me. He was the first artist I ever listened to, and I had a ticket to go see him in London before he died :(

    • He don’t deserve THAT kind of smack, he was found innocent because he was innocent. He was a legend, he had no childhood so he wanted to relive it through other children, he was a saint, and they took advantage of him!

As for the game, being that active would probably kill me!!

      • He was found innocent, but was quite obviously guilty as hell. Oj simpson was found innocent because “the glove didn’t fit” even though it clearly did. He was later found guilty in a seperate civil case. Michael jackson was a blatant kiddie fiddler, anyone who’s ever heard him talk on the matter can clearly see that. A genius, but also a complete freak.

  2. i just can’t imagine myself stood on my own in my room dancing :)

  3. What is Player projection technology? Is it like in kung fu live or the eyetoy games where they actually show you on screen rather than a game avatar?

    • It projects your body onto a in game avatar… so its neither really

      • cool, i must read more about it.

  5. im 13 and i love mj ive been listening to him since i was 2 XD was gonna go to his concerts 5 times

  6. Just a quick money-saving tip for people without 360s. There’s absolutely no need to fork out money for a 360 and a Kinect if you want to grab your crotch. I’ve been doing it free for years! Sadly, I will not be offering my crotch-grabbing services to anyone but myself.

  7. 10er on that they make him look stupid

  8. Unfortunately I have a feeling it won’t be any good… It’ll sell loads though. Oh the irony!

  9. Will the DLC mean Dangle Little Children of balconies

  10. Apparently there’s to be a grooming mini game, though I’m not sure what relevance manicuring, shaving and hairstyling actually have in a music game.
