EA seem to have pre-empted their own Studio Showcase this evening. They’ve officially announced and named the game we all knew was coming when they signed that deal with 38 Studios way back in March.
The lengthy title for the new open-world RPG is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. The game is set in a world created by R.A. Salvatore (a fantasy novelist) and Todd McFarlane who created the Spawn comic books. That’s quite a team for a project like this but it gets better. The development is being headed by Ken Rolston whose previous work includes Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
The game is currently scheduled for Autumn 2011 on both HD consoles but hopefully there will be plenty of character art and story hooks released between now and then.

I’ll keep an eye on this. Speaking of Elder Scrolls, Bethesda need to hurry up and announce V.

I agree, i’ve squeezed every drop out of oblivion and just want bethesda to bring out V so I can spend hundreds more hours.

they’ve got some decent creative minds behind the project so it could be good, but then i’ve seen projects like this end up awful.
still, here’s hoping.
i can’t wait till they start showing some of the actual game
