I’m not going to keep you long. I just found this F1 2010 video on YouTube and thought you’d all like to see the damage (and glimpses of a replay mode). Er, not much else to say except: Oh-em-gee… It’s looking pretty impressive, eh?

Nice to see their is damage, how extensive it is is up for argument, but to me its not going to influence me buying it. Im buying it to race, not to crash! Damage is good to have, but dosnt need to be perfect.
But as a non-arcade type game, with them leaning towards something more authentic, surely it feels so much better with the worry of crashes and those incredible “OH MY GOD!” moments when someone’s flipped and pieces of their smashed car are flying everywhere.
I disagree. In an open wheel race formula it’s critical they get damage right because damage is massively important. One small error, one small wheel touch and you could be sent flying or damage suspension and have to retire. For other race categories damage might not matter so much (touring cars for instance), but for F1 it does.
Secondly, when I race online I like to know – and have my opponents know – that we need to race clean or damage will likely take us both out of the race.
lol, im not gonna say ive never done it, especially when most of the grid (in GRID) have tried to take you off track at every turn, its revenge time then but it annoys me when everyone is racing properly and its a good group of racers, then one comes along and ruins it for everyone! grrrr! if i wasnt in work now, id load grid up for a bit of backwards racing lol!
I havnt explained what i ment properly. Like i said how extensive it is, is up for argument. I would like it to be extensive, as to avoid the cars coming into contact but I dont care that much if it dosnt look visually brilliant. Id rathe they focus on other things than how good the crashes look.
Stunning, contender for GoTY along with GT5 and WRC for me. Only negative thing about the damage is that the wheel shouldn’t have come off like that as in reality it would have been held in place with a wheel tether.
Actually mate, there’s been cases this year when the wheel were ripped of the car in a collision. The wheel tether could easily fail in a head-on crash.
Yeah I’ve seen, but I bet that every single crash in F1 2010 will involve a wheel coming off, regardless of how heavy the impact was. (referring to impacts that are big enough to damage a wheel that is.
Thats true, but not over an accident as straight forward as this one. This is simply a case of the McLaren hitting the Ferrari, and the wheel instantly flying off. :( Disappointing for us F1 nuts tbh

Unlike the new NFS, which is far more forgiving.

It’s ok. There’s only damage on the premium F1 teams.

I wonder if they’ll be a secret trophy for recreating the crash at the start of the 1998 Belgium GP.
