Forza 3 Ultimate Collection Outed

At this point in time, Forza 3 is possibly the best traditional racing game available on a home console.  Its combination of sharp graphics, good number of cars and solid online mode has meant it has been sitting pretty at the top of the pile.  Unfortunately for Forza though, a challenger is coming in November – you may have heard of Gran Turismo 5.

The Australian ratings board has seemingly outed an ‘Ultimate Collection’ version of Forza 3.  If we were to guess we would say it would be the main game plus a whole load of DLC – possibly in a pretty tin.  Would it be enough to take the sting out of Gran Turismo’s tail?

  1. I doubt it will ‘win over’ anyone who was going to buy GT5 but it’s a good idea to try and grab a few extra sales for those who, perhaps, only have a 360 and haven’t got Forza yet, or who see GT5 and decide they want a game like that but have previously not been that keen.

  2. No

  3. My partner wanted Forza for the xbox elite we used to have. Then it broke. So we’ve never played any of the Forza series, and while I’m not really into car games, he had wanted to give these a go. Highly doubt this game is going to take any sting out of GT5 – pretty much everyone I know is sitting waiting for GT5, and one of my friends is considering buying a PS3 just for it.

  4. Gran turismo will sell at least 2 million in the first week of sale, by new year we should expect to see those numbers doubled.
    COME ON GT5!

  5. I would probably be tempted by this because I never got around to buying Forza, although it’s always been on my to get list.. I’m still getting GT5 tho, so maybe this will be redundant. I guess it all depends on how differently they play.

    • That’s an interesting point. Will this and GT5 be different enough to be worth having both?

    • I think in a way, Forza and GT have slightly different markets. If you want a game with pretty much life like physics then GT is for you. If you want to kick back and just have a fun time messing around a bit, Forza is the game for you. I tried GT5 Prologue at my mates and the physics seem a lot more harder to grasp then Forza. Having said that, with all of the driving assists off, you can set yourself a challenge with it.

I’ve got the steering wheel for Forza and it’s so much fun. I recommend it to everyone.

  6. I’ve never heard of Grand Turismo 5. Gran Turismo 5 on the other hand …

    • Zing

    • Maybe it’s a racing game with Tommy Vercetti doing a few drive-bys?

    • See, this is what happens when Im away for a couple of days. Absolute brain mush.

      • Oh Dan. Lucky for you this is very rare (albeit enormous) slip up. Seriously though, I normally love your posts… but if you ever misspell Gran Turismo again we may have to hog tie you to the back of a Suzuki Cappuccino and drag you around Nordschleife.

Not a fast way to go, I assure you.

      • You could probably run alongside a Cappuccino for that long reasonably easily

      • HOG TIE! You can’t run when your feet are bound. Muahahahaha!!

  7. I’ve got Forza 3 on the 360 and normally I’m not that into racing games but I have to say, it’s a superb game. I’m sure GT5 will be a better game as it’s newer and had more time in development but it has a lot to live up to against Forza 3. I’m looking forward to Forza 4 if it ever happens.

    • Seeing is a whole lot different to playing, it’s by far the worse game I have for my xbox. Dan Lee, have you actually played the game?
It have the worse AI I have ever seen, seriously, I’m the only driver with actual grip. The worse part of the game is finishing a series and getting an awesome car, that sounds pretty good? No. The problem is because you get awesome cars, there’s no point in actually buying cars, because you get them for free, also the game feels like a demo if you don’t have gold, you can’t get MORE free cars emailed to you, and you can’t use the Market place thing. This game just feels like a cash in.

      • To be honest, why the hell are you playing on a 360 WITHOUT Live?

        That’s like buying a PS3 with no blu-ray drive.

      • Do those blinkers hurt much? Maybe he doesn’t want to pay a consoles worth every 5 years just for the ‘privilege’ of playing online. I own both but there is no way I’m paying for Live when my PS3 gives me MORE for free (and even MORE for my sub).

  8. Good to see Turn 10 & MS come up with something which may help stop a few people jumping ship – it makes sense for them. But it won’t stop the juggernaut that is GT5

    • How is it good? The accumulated cost of Forza 3 and the DLC is ridiculous, assuming they sell this at a normal retail price it will only serve to rub salt into the wounds of existing Forza 3 owners (myself included… I even bought an Xbox wheel) – particularly when compared against GT5.

Turn 10 talk the talk, but they couldn’t walk the walk – still can’t.

You’re right about the GT5 juggernaut though, and it’s well deserved imho.

  9. Forza should be called Borza. It’s so stale and boring compared to GT5.

    • GT5 hasn’t even been released yet, so how can you compare?

      • I agree with Mike. How can you possibly pass judgement on GT5 yet.

      • Because he’s probably play Borza?

      • That isn’t what I asked

      • I’ve played it on a demo booth and even that was better than Forza 3.

    • I love GT5 (from what I’ve seen), and I prefer GT5P physics to Forza 3…. but, GT5P is definitely more ‘boring’ as a title than Forza. I’m 110% confident GT5 will rectify that (based on all the info we have), but let’s not forget what a sterile racer GT5P is.

  10. I’ve only briefly played Forza and I have to say that it does seem like the more accessible cousin of GT. The physics are easier and the rewind function makes the game pretty easy and ‘light’ but that IS what most people want, a fun game. Personally I find GT5 slightly transcends gaming because it is SO accurate, it becomes a different kind of challenge. That’s why I love it so much but I can see why some people just can’t be arsed with that and Forza has very cleverly found that narrow niche

    • Pretty much exactly my sentiments as above. My mate played Forza at mine and I played GT5: Prologue at his and we both agreed that Forza was the most fun out of the two. GT was still good to play but the physics are just a little too real for me, I want to play a game. If I want to sit down and play a driving simulation, I would just go out and drive my own car :P

      • Wow, you have a Nissan GTR, Mercedes SLS, Ferrari F40, Pagani Zonda, Koenigsegg CCX etc?
        .
That is the whole point of GT, driving thousands of different cars all around the world on amazing race tracks.
If I wanted to get in a fight I could just go outside but I guarantee it would be less fun than Tekken.

      • Ok, it was a bad comparison, I’m not saying GT is a bad game, hell, I did have fun playing it, but in my personal opinion, I just prefer the feel to Forza than I did with GT.

    • Forza is SO much more fun than GT5, but that just sums it up.

GT5 isn’t MEANT to be fun, it’s meant to be REAL. Forza is so much easier to just chillax on and have a laugh online, GT is like a serious session.
