Host of GTTV – Geoff Keighley – has announced that the first ever showing of Dead Space 2′s multiplayer mode will be coming on tomorrow nights show. The episode will air in North America on Spike TV at 12:30am. No doubt the trailer will then be put up on the GameTrailers.com website for everyone to enjoy.
The hype for Dead Space 2 has been building rapidly – but EA has been tight lipped over the multiplayer aspect. We are looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us, and we will be posting the news as soon as we get it.

I read the subtitle as GMTV then
Looking forward to seeing this, but have concerns as the sense of isolation in Dead Space (one of my fave games this gen) added to the atmosphere

I agree, the isolation is one of the main reasons why DS was so creepy. I don’t think it will have quite the same atmosphere in multiplayer but that’s alright, as long as the single player is still up to scratch then I will definitely buy this.

I’d never liked 3rd person multiplayers until Red Dead turned up so I’m mildly optimistic about how this will turn out.
I’ll only be taking a look once the story mode is done and dusted though.

Did you ever play the UC2 multiplayer? I know it was plagued with connection issues at the start, but it was actually really enjoyable.

I really can’t help but think that this has been tacked on. If theres one game that was designed to be played single player, this is it. All I ask is that the sp mode hasn’t suffered as a result of the development time being put into the multiplayer mode, whereas it could have been used to polish the sp.

From what I’ve heard, the multiplayer is being done by a seperate team, allowing the main team to focus on the single player.

That’s good (as I said in my main comment) it’s like Bioshock 2 and I cannot personally see how that main game was adversely effected by the MP game in that instance.

That’s ok then, you’ve settled my fear.

That’s what everyone said when Uncharted 2 multiplayer was announced. People need to stop assuming..

I hope that the maps are large and the number of people on multiplayer is low. Like somebody said above, one of the main points of Dead Space is the isolation. Taking the core themes of the game away will be tacked on.
But I have faith in redwood/Visceral, they made a bloomin’ good original game so here’s to the sequel!

The first game was a classic and although some of the key devs have left the team (as I understand) I’m sure the sequel will be a good game if the basic mechanics / atmos has been left in tact which going from the trailers etc seems to be the case.
No point stressing about multiplayer (even if it’s been tacked on) as let’s fact it if you were going to get the game you were doing so for the single player. There’s therefore 2 scenarios as I see it: 1- It’s been horribly tacked on to add a feature to the box (in which case it’s unlikely the single player part has been impacted much) but as you were buying it for the single player anyway, no probs or 2- It’s actually had some time spent on it and is worth a look in which case a pleasant bonus.
All in all similar to the Bioshock 2 multiplayer side of things. As long as the single player hasn’t been neglected (and given the multiplayers late announcement I’m guessing it hasn’t) then I’m not fussed either way. And breathe….

Yeah, a few of the founding members of Visceral (who presumably worked at EA Redwood Shores previously) left to set up Sledgehammer Games who are now thought to be working on a CoD spin-off for Activision

Not sure about having multiplayer with this game. However, co-op throughout entire game, or certain stages (like Uncharted 2) I’d be up for.
